Kakatu Retreat is nestled in the Ocean Ridge subdivision about 5 minutes from the Kaikoura Township.

Bordered by a golf course, farmland and reserve with stunning views of the Kaikoura Ranges, Kakatu Retreat was specially designed as the ultimate luxury retreat for visitors to Kaikoura. With special facilities for those with disabilities and special needs, Kakatu Retreat is the ultimate getaway for disabled travellers, providing full disability facilities, luxury hospital beds with memory foam mattresses, Caregiver/Nurse Room, and a range of disabled facilities for rent including mobility scooter, wheelchair, crutches, rehab chair and much more.

While anyone can enjoy the luxury and ambience of this retreat, we offer a haven to those with special needs.

Your Hosts

Your hosts are Stephen and Mary.

“A number of years ago, part of my work involved calling on rest homes and hospitals. I used to see the same people in the same chairs month after month. When I asked where residents spent their holidays, 9 times out of 10 I would hear there was nowhere to go that had the facilities for their needs. I decided to change that, as we all deserve time out and a place to go on holiday. Thus Kakatu Retreat was born”, Stephen.

In September 2014 after 5 long years of planning, we put the first peg in the ground and on November 10 2015, we opened for business.
